Raise or lower the overall audio level
The volume tool applies a gain relative to the source. Start at 1× or 0 dB, listen to the original, and make a modest adjustment. It is useful for quiet interviews, loud sound effects, and clips that need a more practical listening level.
Gain, decibels, and clipping
A multiplier of 1× and a gain of 0 dB leave the level unchanged. Increasing gain can push waveform peaks beyond the available range, producing clipping and harsh distortion. If the warning appears, try a smaller increase and check the loudest part of the preview.
Files and output quality
Common audio such as MP3, WAV, and M4A can be processed. Duration remains unchanged, but the output is encoded again, so repeatedly editing a lossy source can alter quality. Compare both previews before downloading. The source file is never sent to an external server.
